Have you tried planting a hedge, or have a friend around you did? From cultivation to growth, it takes a lot of time and resources to become a decoration for beautifying the space. This reflects the benefits of artificial hedge panels. We have designed our artificial hedges to provide the same aesthetic, lifelike appearance without the extra cost and maintenance. There must be a lot you want to know about the product. Below are some frequently asked questions we received, and our answers.
- Safety Concerns
Q1: Does faux hedges have a bad smell and is it toxic?
A1: Each artificial hedge mat is made of fresh PE, and it is harmless. The material is heated and melted and pressed into professionally designed molds to hold the shape, allowing for a wider range of natural leaf and flower designs. There was a little plastic smell, so just in case please put them on the balcony or outdoor and blew them for a day. Next there was no smell at all. Then you can install them indoor.
Q2: Are the faux leaves toxic to children or animals?
A2: No,they are not toxic to children or animals. Our products are tested human and pet friendly. Any part of a live plant can be toxic to your pet, including soil, fallen leaves, and fertilizer. If any parts is ingested, it can mean extra cost for you. But you don’t have to worry about artificial plants dropping leaves(they are made of fresh PE and non-toxic anyway). They don’t need watering, and they don’t involve soil, pests, and don’t need fertilizer. So feel free to keep them indoors.
Q3: Is this flame resistant?
A3: You will never have to worry about fire code complaince with foliage tested in several jurisdictios around the world. As an artificial plant manufacturer in China, we comply with some of the most strigent and specific fire laws abroad, and has passed more fire safety tests than any other artificial plants that use recycled materials. Yes, it will melt in the heat(fire), but should not actually catch fire. Again, “flame resistant”not “flame proof”.
Q4: How easily does something like this attract spiders and other bugs?
A4: Live plants have the potential to attract spiders. They provide spiders with hiding places, moisture and food possibilities for insects. As faux fence hedges are fabric or plastic, it would not attract spiders and other bugs. If you are worried about bugs, you can probably spray the leaves with repellent.
Q1: How do you attach these to the wall?
A1: Depends what kind of wall you stapled it to. You just need a few items that you most likely already have at home or can easily get from your local hardware store. Also artificial plant wholesalers will provide zip ties and installation guides.
Q2: Can you attach this to a concrete fence?
A2: After completing the size and area that needs to be covered and cutting the artificial hedges to the desired size, we can connect them and install them to the fence. You can choose between nails or staples, but consider the type of wood you’ll be attaching the hedge to and decide which method is safer and more convenient to attach them. For exterior fences that also have trim on the other side, you can choose to use a nail gun. Once the artificial hedge is stapled, we can sit back and admire the beauty of the new hedge. The installation process is that simple.
Q3: How do I install it on the exterior siding wall?
A3: One great way to install would be to buy the sturdy industrial strength hook&loop strips with the self-adhesive backing. Or, the extra strength sticky-back hooks.
Q4: How can I attach this to my typical indoor living room/office wall?
A4: You should use velcro. But at some point it might come down.Go to homepot and buy zip ties with screw hea or use a staple gun. Simple and convenient.
Q5: Hi,what would be the best way to attach these to a stucco outdoor wall?
A5: The best way to attach the panel to the wall is to punch holes in the wall and fix the panel to the wall. To stabilize it, you can use zip ties to connect the nail and the panel. If you want to not damage the wall, you can use non-marking hooks. Depending on the weight of the panel, you can buy non-marking hooks that can bear this weight to attach the panel to the wall.
Q6: Can I put this on metal or wood fence?
A6: Yeah definitely! It comes with zip ties that can be put through it and attached to the fence. It would be recommended buying extra zip ties. However, the plastic on the back will show on the opposite side if you are installing less-coverage hedge panels.
- Water-proof Concerns
Q1: If I put them on a window sill, with flower containers on them, are they water proof in case they get sprinkled?
A1: They are plastic so shouldn’t have an issue with getting water on them. However, they won’t protect your windowsill though. Water would go through them and flow into the room since grid baking.
- Purchasing Concerns
Q1: Can I buy panels separately?
A1: Sorry, our panels have minimum order quantity(MOQ), and not sold separately.
Its good to have extra in case you need them later.
- Maintenance Concerns
Q1: For anyone who has installed indoors, how dusty does the product get/look after a while? How do you clean it? Vacuuming?
A1: If the artificial hedge is placed indoors, the possibility of dust accumulation is generally not high. If it does, I would probably use one of those big fluffy dusters, brushes or wet cloth to clean–a vacuum would be too aggressive. Since they are plastic, you don’t have to worry about damaging them.
- Application Concerns
Q1: Will this work to cover an outdoor utility box?
A1: Cumbersome utility boxes by the curb or along the landscape reduce the comfort of the landscape you are building. Luckily yes, We can hide them beautifully with artificial hedges. As long as you have something the back of the hedge can attach to, it can basically go on anything.
Q2: Can you use this for privacy around pool?
A2: Sure. According to the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals (APSP), https://apsp.org there are more than 10.4 million residential pools in the United States. And according to the U.S. Census Bureau, swimming is the fourth most popular sport or activity in the U.S., suggesting that the pool privacy dilemma is one that many people face. Measure first, then attach higher, or lower depending on height of pool. Not only does it give you privacy, but it also beautifies the environment and creates a relaxing, cool vibe.
Q3: Can use outside, in summer the heat go to 110?
A3: Of course. As a Chinese artificial plant manufacturer established in 2004, we have spent several years refining our manufacturing process, increasing sustainability, and adopting new technologies to keep us in the leading position in the industry. The material used in our artificial plants is fresh PE, which can provide durable, long-lasting, UV-resistant outdoor leaves.
- Appearance Concerns
Q1: I see in some pics that there is a distinction between panels. Is there a certain way to avoid the lines and make it look one piece?
A1: Our artificial privacy hedge stems are hand-inserted to ensure tight coverage, eliminating visible tile patterns or unsightly seams. It does interlock to look seamless.
Q2: Is it easy to get dirty when hanging at home?
A2: To be precise, the dust in the indoor air is not as serious as the outdoor, and artificial hedge panels are easier to clean than live plants, so don’t worry too much about this problem.
- Pruning Concerns
Q1: Can you cut them narrower？/ Can these be cut into shapes?
A1: Yes, you can cut them.It was easy for us to do. An important reason to choose artificial leaves hedges is that you can cut them to the exact size you need. Just use a pair of sharp scissors to cut the panels to the size you need, then reassemble them using cables or cable ties.
Q2: If I have a thin space I would like covered, would I be able to cut one of the panels in half without it falling apart?
A2: Absolutely. Those faux leaves are on a grid made up on little squares. If you flip it and cut from the back you will be fine. It is like a grid. Just make sure you move the actual plannt out of your cutting path.
- Free-standing Concerns
Q1: How does it stand up?
A1: Hello. The panels does not stand up on its own, as they are just mats. They need to be attached to something, such as a fence or a wall.
- Foldable Concerns
Q1: Can these fold?
A1: Each panel is made with a flexible plastic backing. When they are connected, they can be rolled up.
- Quality Concerns
Q1: What happens to it when it rains?
A1: They has been through high winds and downpours and there has been no damage at all.
Q2: Does this hold up during harsh winter?
A2: It has held up for harsh windy, rainy or snowy days just fine. Although it has lost a few leaves during strong wind, it has not faded in the hot, humid heat or cold.
Q3: Can you spray bug repellent on this without damaging the color or product?
A3: They won’t affect bugs but just spray it in case.
Q4: How much wind can they withstand? I want to install a long chainlink fence that will be struck by heavy winds from time to time.
A4: You would attach it to chain line with twist ties.If the wind blows from the back side of the hedge, you may have trouble. If it blows from the front, you should be OK. If you have too strong winds, you may well lose individual pieces of your hedge.
- DIY with Bushes
Q1: Can I add additional shrubs to the panels to make a more dense green wall?
A1: Because of the influence of climate and seasons, it is difficult for us to decorate the hedges with a variety of bouquets according to our ideas. But the simulated plants are different, we can match different foliage sprays according to our own preferences such as 3D artificial plants wall solution. Just purchase the hedges and bundles separately and assemble them with zip tiles to DIY what you like.
